The JFJM fluidized bed opposed jet mill (JACAN) is equipped with an integrated variable-frequency dynamic turbine classifier. Its adjustable D50 fineness range covers 1 μm to 50 μm, varying across different JFJM models.
Model-by-model fineness overview
- JFJM60 (lab & small pilot): D50 1–50 μm
- JFJM140 / JFJM200: D50 2–50 μm
- JFJM315 / JFJM400 / JFJM500: D50 3–50 μm / 4–50 μm
Target fineness for lithium battery materials (LFP, NCM, graphite)
For sintered LFP cathode material, the most commonly operated window is D50 = 1.5–5 μm, with tight D97 control. This is the standard specification for power and energy storage LFP.
- Sub-micron region: Can reach close to D50=1 μm for special low tap-density ultra-fine grades, but throughput drops sharply and compressed-air consumption rises significantly.
- Coarse mode: It can also produce D50=10–30 μm powder for some modified or low-grade battery material batches.
Key factors affecting actual fineness
- Classifier wheel speed: Higher rotor speed gives finer cut point.
- Grinding pressure: Typically 0.6–0.8 MPa for LFP; higher pressure supports finer powder.
- Feed rate: Reducing feed helps achieve finer PSD, at the cost of lower hourly capacity.
- Material characteristics: Sintered LFP is soft agglomerate, easier to reach fine sizes than hard crystalline materials.
Critical feature for battery-grade powder
All powder contact surfaces can adopt full ceramic lining to eliminate metal contamination. The closed-loop classification enables narrow particle size distribution, avoiding over-grinding of primary LFP crystals.
The full adjustable D50 range of JFJM fluidized bed jet mill is 1 ~ 50 μm. For LFP mass production, the typical working range is D50 1.5–5 μm.
